International Women's Day Excursion, 2010
Last Tuesday our class went to the Hawthorne Park. Actually it was international women's day excursion programme and the Migrant Resources Centre (MRC) organized that programme. Since that programme organized on the base of international women's day, so only women of migrant population were participate in the programme.
On Tuesday we all met with our class teachers Marion Evan and Andrew Burnett in the classroom DG.08 at 9 am. Then we walked to MRC together and arrived there fifteen minutes later. After arriving in the MRC we introduced with the management committee of the excursion and others migrant women’s. After few minutes we started our journey by bus from MRC to Hawthorne Park and we arrived in the park about 10.30. Marx who is indigenous person of Australia did welcome to us with smoke. We then walked through the bush with him. He introduced us with different trees of the forest and explains different usefulness of those trees. One of the trees of forest is "Grand Mother". I think it is title of this tree because it gives shelter to others with its long branch like as grandmother. Another name of these trees is "High rise building " of the forest. Moreover, Dead are another special trees, which has a special history of its name. These trees grow automatically after forest fire.
After long time walking in the bush we took rest in the rest house of the park. At that place we introduced with another person whose name is Anthony. He loves nature very much and he introduced us with some Australian animals i.e. ringtail possum, tawny frogmouth, green coloured frog, fruit bat and lizard. He explained about nature of those animals. We took a lot of photos. At 12.30 we got back on the bus and returned to MRC. In the MRC we took our lunch and enjoyed some dancing. After taking lunch we introduced with Anna who is migrant in Australia from China. She explained some problems, which faces all migrant population from her personal life. We took some more photos in MRC. At 1.30 we returned in TAFE with our teacher then back home.
I enjoyed the excursion very much because from that I did know about forest of Australia as well as animals.
